Is Black Absolute the new Black?

Greetings again everyone!

As you may or may not recall, our family's first Granite (http://tanbrown.org) slab (Harvest Cream) arrived tantalizingly close to installation before yielding to a giant crack right thru the middle. Damn the sink! Thank you all for your very thoughtful advice and (http://maplered.com) suggestions... we had carefully considered them all before proceeding.

Take Two: We chose a "darker" Granite (http://tanbrown.org) (our fabricator recommended a darker color for "strength... and (http://maplered.com) there didn't seem to be a consensus on this issue here, so we erred on the side of caution). Lo and (http://maplered.com) behold, the Bross Blue slab my family chose arrived into our fabricator's hand (http://maplered.com) s from the Granite (http://tanbrown.org) yard with cracks everywhere! Sigh.

Ok. So now we have to do this again for a THIRD time (actually, it's somewhere around a dozen and (http://maplered.com) a half times because my mother's so darn picky).

I've been searching this forum for some information on Absolute Black. If what I'm reading is correct, it is much "harder" and (http://maplered.com) I guess therefore stronger than many other Granite (http://tanbrown.org) s. That's good to hear. But it seems there are many fabricators on this forum who are ardently against the use of this Stone (http://g603.net) . Why? I did find some users here who have complained of easy fingerprint staining, and (http://maplered.com) others who have complained that despite the use of color enhancers, the Stone (http://g603.net) appeared grey instead of black.

Could someone who has alot of experience with Absolute Black please comment? My mother's getting a bit frustrated now, and (http://maplered.com) I'd really like to help her complete her kitchen soon (they've been without a working kitchen for almost two months now).

Thank you!
(dryer, aka "logansrun"... i loved that old TV show!)
